Director of Training Operations
A native of Chesapeake, Chris has been in the fitness industry since 1994 when he began his career in Athletic Training following completion of his degree in Sports Medicine from Old Dominion University.He then went on to Radford University to obtain his Masters Degree in Physical Education in 1997. Following Graduate School, Chris returned to Virginia Beach and spent several years working at Atlantic Physical Therapy and First Colonial High School as a Certified Athletic Trainer. In 2000 he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and started Atlantic Sports Performance – training athletes of all ages in a variety of sports. Between 2004 and 2008 he served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the US Women’s National Field Hockey team. Chris began personal training at Wareing’s Gym in 2004 and became the Director of Training in 2013.
Chris believes that fundamental human movement patterns should be the basis of all training – train movements, not muscles. A big part of what he does is assess an individuals movement quality and then write an exercise prescription designed to improve those movements and get that individual closer to his/her goals.
He met his wife Paulette in 1992 and they have been best friends ever since. They live in Virginia Beach with their three boys – Dominic, Jake and Zachary.
