Cook your own food. Really.
I know you’re probably saying, “I don’t have time to cook.” But the truth is, what you just don’t have is a plan.
Without a plan, spend too much time wondering what to make, then making a trip to the store to get all the ingredients, then driving all the way home… By then, it’s often too late to start cooking a meal. Plus, you’re probably starving.
So it’s just easier to pick up something from a drive-through at that point, right? Hey, we’ve all been there. However, cooking your own meals can be less expensive than eating out — and exponentially healthier, too.
Use the weekends to plan your meals for the week, make a list and then go to the grocery store. When you have a plan each night and you are prepared, you can enjoy a stress-free meal at home AND do your part to fight diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Pretty sweet. Only 5 minutes of prep time, throw it in the oven and that’s it.
I usually make a quick green vegetable and sweet potato as a side. It’s healthy, delicious and even picky eaters (like my kids) love it.
